Visa Requirements

To apply for the student visa you must meet the following requirements and show the relevant proof asked for.
  • Bank Statement

    This is a form of evidence to prove that you are financially stable and capable of financing yourself with safe and secure accommodation, food and other necessities.

  • Course Fee

    If you have lived in the UK for the past 12 month prior to the date of your application you do not have to prove any of the following in this section.

    To follow up with the costs of living in the UK you also need to consider the actual fee of the course. This can vary.


    For example-

    The courses studied in London are more expensive, compared to the rest of England. London encompases Central London and its 32 London boroughs.

    To prove that you can support yourself in London, you need to be able to show you can obtain a minimum of £1,334 per month (for up to 9 months). This fee is higher if you are studying a Doctorate Extension Scheme, prove you have a total of £2,668 for the above courses being studied outside of London the amount you need to be able to prove is any degree- £1,023 per month Doctorate Extension Scheme- a total of £2,046 per month

  • CAS/ Admission in a University

    A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is an electronic document issued by University / College to students who need to make a Student Route visa application.

  • English Requirements

    This means what level of English proficiency a student is required in order to obtain a UK’s Student Visa. It would depend upon course of study and level of study. As a standard requirement, Degree Level or Above would be CEFR level B2 and Below CEFR level B1.

    This requirement does your specific course require, just as the course fee varies so does the entry requirements such as english literature and speaking skills vary from course to course.

    You should be able to take a test within 28 days of booking, but it may not always be at the location nearest to you. If there is not an approved test location in your country, you will have to travel to another country to take the test.

    The details used to book your test must be the same as on your passport or other identity document. If your surname has changed, you will need to provide evidence of the change.

To apply for the start up visa, you should meet the following eligibility criteria:-
  • You demonstrate that you are creating an innovative business idea - something that is completely new to the market in the UK.
  • You meet the other eligibility requirements which are as follows:-
    • You should be 18 years and above
    • You can prove you are financially stable enough to support yourself.
    • You meet the english language requirements

Who is endorsing body?

If you are being endorsed, the individual who is endorsing you should be:-

  • a UK Higher Education Institution
  • a business which has a history of supporting UK entrepreneurs.

What is an Innovative Business Idea?

You have to be able to prove that the business idea you have is as stated.

  • completely brand new, not joining an existing trading business.
  • completely viable and has potential to grow, you must be able to prove that people and the market will be interested.

How long can you Stay on a StartUP Visa?

You can stay up to two years with this visa initially. With this specific start up visa there is no application eligible for extension, so if you would like to extend your stay in the UK you may be able to switch to the Innovator visa.

  • Your endorsing body has to assess and agree to it
  • The business that you started is trading and shows sustainability
  • You also have to prove your day to day involvement with the business.

However, if within the two years of your first application, your endorsement is withdrawn, your visa may be cut short and you will have to look for a new endorsement.

If you are applying yourself the fees are as follows,

  • Outside UK £363
  • Switch your visa inside the UK£493

If you are applying with a partner and children you will have to pay these prices for each individual

Visa Requirements

To apply for this visa you must be minimum 18 years of age and a leader or potential leader in the following-

  • academia or research
  • arts and culture
  • digital technology

If you or you have had close family are from any of the below listed

  • EU,
  • Switzerland
  • Norway
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein

You could be entitled to a EU settlement or else you have to apply for a visa to be able to work in the UK. If you are Irish then you do not need to apply for the visa or the EU settlement.

What to check before you apply -

You can only apply if you have successfully applied for an endorsement, which shows you have leadership skills or if you have won an eligible award.

If you are not eligible for the global talent visa then you can apply for the skilled worker visa.

How long can you stay with this visa?

With this visa you can stay and work up to 5 years within the UK.

  • The fees-

    It costs £608 to apply.

    If you’re applying based on an endorsement, you’ll pay the £608 in two parts:

    • £456 when you apply for the endorsement
    • £152 when you apply for the visa itself

    If you’re applying based on an eligible award, you’ll pay the full £608 when you apply for the visa.

    if you are paying for family members it will cost £602 for each individual.

Health surcharge

This does not include your healthcare surcharge, you must pay £624 for each person applying as a part of your application.

Visa Requirements

To be eligible to apply for this visa you must

  • be able to prove that you can support yourself without public funds.
  • meet the english requirements.

Visa Requirements

  • Sole representative of an overseas business and are planning to open a branch within the UK.
  • Employee of an oversea newspaper or news-agency or broadcasting agency and have been posted on a long-term assignment in the UK.

How long will it take?

If you apply from outside the UK

  • You must apply 3 months prior you travel to the UK.
  • You will receive your decision within 3 weeks of sending your application.

If you are applying from outside the UK.

  • You will receive your decision within 8 weeks
  • If it does take longer UKVI will contact you.

Applying from within the UK

  • £704 for the visa
  • £19.20 for your biometric information (fingerprints and photo)

How long can you stay?

  • initial period is 3 years
  • You can apply for an extension for an extra 2 years
  • After 5 years you can apply for permission to settle permanently in the UK.

What you can and cannot do

You can

  • work for your employer, full time
  • bring your family (‘dependants’) with you to the UK
  • apply to extend your visa
  • apply to settle in the UK after you’ve been here for 5 years

You cannot

  • work for yourself or any other business
  • stay in the UK if the sole representative arrangement is ended by your employer
  • switch to this visa from any other visa category
  • get public funds

How long until the decision?

How much does it cost ?

There are three main aspects you need to prove you can and will have to pay for.You, your partner or children will each need to:

  • pay the application fee
  • pay the healthcare surcharge for each year of your stay
  • prove you have enough personal savings

If you work in healthcare you could be eligible for the health and care worker visa which is cheaper.

What you can and cannot do

you can:

  • work in an eligible job
  • study
  • bring your partner and children with you as your ‘dependants’, if they’re eligible
  • take on additional work in certain circumstances
  • do voluntary work
  • travel abroad and return to the UK
  • apply to settle permanently in the UK (also known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’) if you’ve lived in the UK for 5 years and meet the other eligibility requirements

You cannot:

  • apply for most benefits (public funds), or the State Pension
  • change jobs or employer unless you apply to update your visa

Eligibility

You should be able to apply if you:

  • have a valid Student or Tier 4 visa (except where it was granted under the Doctorate Extension Scheme) which expired on 1st July 2021 or after; and
  • have successfully completed a degree at undergraduate level or above during that Student visa (this is either the course that your current visa was granted to study or the course you changed to - we expect this this will still apply if your visa was granted to study an integrated masters course but you exit early with a Bachelors award); and
  • the University must have notified UKVI that you have successfully completed your course before you submit your visa application; and
  • you must not have not previously been granted a visa under the Graduate Immigration Route; and
  • you must have permission from your financial sponsor (only if your financial sponsor was a government sponsor or an international scholarship agency); and
  • If your course is longer than 12 months, you must have spent at least 12 months studying your course inside the UK (However, please also see the section on remote learning below); or

How to apply?

You must:

  • apply inside the UK
  • complete identity, criminality and security checks
  • pay an application fee (£700) and an Immigration Health Surcharge payment (£624 per year x each year of permission you expect to be granted to you, please see above)

What it is & when you can apply

The UK Government have announced a new Graduate Route, from 01 July 2021.

The new route allows you to apply for a visa to remain in the UK for two years after your studies so you can look for work or start work at any skill level, or 3 years if you have completed a PhD.
